New York’s Insurtech Insights are almost here! The event will take place from the 7th to the 8th of June, and Tensorflight’s team is attending. This event is one of the largest and most influential gatherings of insurance industry leaders, innovators, and investors in the world. We look forward to meeting you there and sharing our insights on how we’re changing the P&C industry with our property intelligence technology. On this occasion, let’s take a look at Javits Centre – the venue hosting the conference!
Javits Centre is a pretty interesting construction! One of the largest convention centers in the United States, with a total area of 3.3 million square feet. It was built between 1979 and 1986 and underwent a major renovation and expansion from 2006 to 2021. The expansion added more than 1.2 million square feet of new space, including a four-level truck marshaling facility, a rooftop pavilion, and a three-story ballroom. The Javits Center has a distinctive design that features a glass curtain wall, stainless steel cladding, architectural concrete blocks, and a space frame structure that spans the entire exhibition hall. The building has five stories and can accommodate thousands of visitors at a time. The Javits Center also has state-of-the-art facilities such as meeting rooms, auditoriums, cafes, restaurants, and a heliport. The total footprint area equals 976507 ft2.
It’s not only huge but also sustainable. It features a green roof that covers nearly seven acres and hosts more than 30 bird species, five bat species, and thousands of honeybees. It also has solar panels that generate enough electricity to power the equivalent of 300 homes. The Javits Center is one of the most energy-efficient buildings of its kind in the country, reducing its annual energy consumption by 26% and its greenhouse gas emissions by 40%. Javits Centre explains the rooftop habitat of their roof here.
The Javits Center is a testament to the power of innovation and technology in transforming the built environment.
